At the recent annual convention of the Marine Section, National Safety Council (NSC), held in Chicago, 111., members of the maritime industry were honored with awards for their part in promoting safety. Officers for 1977 also were elected during the conference.

 

President Appoints Adm. Rea Commander Third USCG District

President Nixon has nominated Rear Adm. William F. Rea III to command the Coast Guard's Atlantic Area and Third District, headquartered on Governors Island, N.Y., with the rank of vice admiral. Pending Senate confirmation, Admiral Rea will relieve Vice Adm.

Federal Commerce and Navigation Ltd., which through its subsidiary, Federal Offshore Services of Dartmouth/Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, will join with one of Britain's largest offshore service companies, Seaforth Maritime Ltd. of Aberdeen, Scotland, to form Seaforth Fednav Inc.
